The Auburn California Life

The Auburn California Life
Looking for a Charming Place to visit or a Great place to live? With the first gold strike in 1848, the California Gold Rush put Auburn on the map. With so much gold mining history in the area, Auburn was designated as a California Historical Landmark. It was established as the County Seat of Placer County.

Spend your afternoon strolling down the quaint streets through all the storefronts especially at the Holidays when they host the annual Christmas festival. Shops, galleries, coffee shops, wine tasting rooms and wonderful dining venues are abundant in both Downtown and Old Town. Saturday farmers market and lots of street festivals keep the area ripe with activity.

Old Town Auburn was once the center of activity and the historic Courthouse sits high on the hill in the center of town. It houses the Gold Rush museum today and is a must see on any visit. Just down the street the Joss House museum steps you back in time to learn about Chinese laborers that worked the mines. And the Bernhard Museum is a living set up of early settler life.

Auburn is situated on the edge of the Auburn State Recreation Area and overlooks the beautiful American River Canyon which offers an abundance of outdoor recreational activities. Most famously known for the Western States Endurance Run and Annual Horse Endurance Ride the Tevis Cup Trail.

Lots of trees and greenery showcase a beautiful change in all the seasons. With easy accessibility to outdoor and indoor activities, there is no shortage of postcard beauty or activities to participate in.

Many young professionals and retirees live in Auburn and residents tend to lean conservative. Located just 15 minutes from Roseville and Rocklin and 40 minutes from Sacramento, work from home commuters are moving to Auburn to enjoy the beauty and nature.

Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range at a comfortable 1,300 feet elevation, Auburn sits above the Valley floor so blue skies reign supreme even on gloomy days down in the Sacramento valley. This location below the snow line offers the best temperatures year round. And if you want the snow it’s just a few miles up 80 to Donner Pass and beautiful Lake Tahoe.
